It’s been a looong journey since we started building the boat. When we think back to those early days, Delos 2.0 was this design on paper and a vision in our heads. We had big dreams of how it would be, but it was always a bit abstract. But the one thing we knew from day 1 that we were most excited about was the aft cockpit and outdoor galley, and now after 2 years it’s starting to look and feel more real than ever. In this week’s episodes we’ve got a bunch of projects on the go that will all come together to make this space truly come to life. It turned out SO freaking amazing, and honestly we’re kind of in disbelief at how satisfying it feels….we can’t wait to share this one with you!

Stoke levels are HIGH in this week’s episode as we tackle a mixed bag of projects. We have some very cool visual changes like the helm station really coming together, the outboard and displays going in on the dinghy, lights turning on, and even the washing machine going in! But definitely the highlight is seeing the starboard cabin start to come to life. Every day the boat feels more and more like a home, and seeing the room where we will spend our nights in beautiful anchorages around the world, or where we’ll catch a few hours of sleep before a night watch hundreds of miles offshore. We’re beyond excited and proud of how everything has come together so far, and we can’t wait to share it all with you!

We’re back in the forward tech space with another HUGE milestone in our electrical system. Remember wayyyy back in episode 12 when we installed the busbar that will carry power from the batteries back to the electric motors? Well after months and months of work we are ready to put power through it for the VERY FIRST TIME 🥳 It’s probably the one thing we’ve gotten the MOST comments on throughout this whole project, so we’re excited to discuss all the progress we’ve made so far with the set up, and most importantly see if this unconventional plan can live up to all the hype! This week’s episode is pretty near and dear to my heart as we tick off a huuuuge milestone in the build. We’ve been chipping away at the electrical system for soooo long now, and after months and months, we’re ready for a BIG TEST….we’re plugging in to shore power for the first time!!! We love the feeling of going off grid and off the radar for months on end, but when we come back to a marina you better believe we’re going to plug in and blast the AC, take hot showers, and sip on a piping hot,freshly brewed espresso while enjoying our home made waffles 😂. But there’s actually a lot more to plugging in at a marina than meets the eye, and in this week’s episode we’re going to take you along with us every step of the way as we prepare for the MOMENT OF TRUTH!

Well, this week’s episode marks another big moment for us, truly an end of an era. After 15 years of adventures together, we’re finally saying goodbye to our trusty partner in crime Maggie. Almost all of our favorite memories on Delos include her too- bringing Sierra to the boat for the first time, scuba diving in the most remote atolls in the middle of nowhere, beach missions of every shape and size, carrying our friends and family in staggering numbers, dinghy races, provisioning, wake boarding, fishing…you name it, Maggie did it. And in an almost poetic fashion, our last ever ride in Maggie gets added onto our long list of rescue missions we’ve undertaken on her. But apart from a sad goodbye to the old gal, we also have some BIG stuff happening in the workshop, including a suuuuper exciting GALLEY REVEAL!

Happy Friday friends! We’re diving into a BRAIN BENDER of a project in this week’s episode. The helm station is about to come alive, and it’s turning out to be quite the game of Tetris to try and fit all the gadgets and screens that we will use to sail around in the world into a rather compact space. But with Kazza’s knack for organizing, Dan’s mastery with the welder, and my nerd-mode fully activated, we manage to come up with something super functional that looks pretty dang sexy! The helm station is one of those spots on the boat that can really make or break how fun, comfortable, and practical a boat is to sail, so it’s something that we’ve put soooo much thought into. We really take you through what the design process really looks like in this one, so we hope you enjoy this glimpse into how we we’re able to go from some blank stares and head scratches to something sooooo freaking cool!

Happy Friday Delos Tribe! We’re back with part 2 of our cabin transformation, and it’s finally time for the big reveal! We take you through the final steps (complete with some curveballs because, ya know, boat building…) and a look back at just how far we’ve come. The cabins are an especially exciting part of the boat to see come to life since it feels the most like home. To think about Sierra filling her cabin with stuffed animals and unicorn decorations, to imagine all the friends and family that will crash out in the guest bunk, all the nights on anchor, all the places in the world that we will call home for the night…With all the focus lately on the systems, it feels like such a sweet reminder of our future lives at sea on Delos 2.0. We are sooo proud of how far we’ve come and how much we’ve learned along the way, and of course SOOO freaking grateful to all of you for supporting and sharing in the journey with us along the way!

Ahoyyyy Delos Tribe! The next two episodes are comin’ in hot! We’re on the cusp of another huuuge moment in the build, and it’s going to be one of our most satisfying projects yet! The port side cabins have been a labor of love for soooo long now. From the early days of deciding on the layout, designing the bed sizes and positions, cabinetry, choosing wood, all the hidden complexity behind the walls and floors with plumbing, wiring, fuel lines, water tanks, and more…We’ve been chipping away bit by bit, but we’re about to hit a turning point where they will really come to life. The panels and bulkheads are getting upholstered and installed, and we’re about to get our first glimpse of how the will really look when we’re out sailing….but we’ve got a LOT of prep before we get there, and this weeks episode is all about the complexity and coordination it takes to make it all happen! This week’s episode is satisfying one. Lately a lot of the projects we’ve been focusing on have spanned the course of months (even years for some). Those are super rewarding to chip away at and see something big and beautiful slowly form…but sometimes it’s fun to watch something come from an idea to a tangible, masterfully crafted, functioning part of our future home in just days. These are like little dopamine hits for our boat building brains, and they are such a great morale boost when it feels like the work is never ending. Today we’re kicking off a project that our tiny Captain has been eagerly awaiting since we first explained to her that we were going to build a new boat. At first glance it appeared to be pretty straight forward, but once we started diving into it and saw just how many options and considerations there are, we quickly realized that this (like most things in boat building) was not as simple as it seemed. But also like most things in boat building, you just have to take things one step at a time and answer each question at it comes, and that’s exactly what we’re up to in this week’s episode! We also say goodbye to Conor in this week’s episode, and we absolutely HAVE to give him a proper shout out and soooo much love for all his help during these three weeks…and of course to Dan and the guys, Bill, all you guys watching right now for making this not only possible, but SO freaking fun and rewarding!

Today’s new episode features a pretttty huge milestone 🤯 After the last weeks spent crammed in the forward tech space tinkering away, we’re ready to put some power in the system and see if we can bring our Combi electric motor to life! This is a crazy moment that logically of course we knew would eventually come, but somehow it feels so surreal that it’s actually here! Reaching this phase of the build things are moving fast and slow at the same time, and so many of these systems and projects that we’ve been chipping away at over the course of the whole build are really starting to come into their own, and every day Delos 2.0 is feeling more and more like a boat and not just a project in the workshop. Ahoy Delos Tribe! This week’s episode is all about something that will quite literally become the heart of Delos 2.0… our batteries! After too many late nights going down every electrical rabbit hole you can imagine, we came across a company here in Australia doing some really innovative stuff — including solid state lithium batteries that are unlike anything we’ve seen before. They’re lighter, incredibly powerful, and are going to be a total game changer for how we power the boat. This one is pretty techy for all my fellow geeks, but also suuuper fun and interesting even if you’re not super into all the technical details. This is going to be a heck of a job to bring this whole system together, and luckily we’ve got a familiar face arriving to help us bring it all together!
