We’re kicking off a super exciting phase of the build this week—installing the sailing hardware on Delos 2.0! This is a huge step and one we’ve been dreaming about since day one. One thing we absolutely LOVE about Delos 1 is how convenient she is to sail, and you don’t need to leave the cockpit to make any adjustments apart from setting up poles/wing on wing/etc. And that is something we definitely want to carry forward on Delos 2.0. One year. Thousands of hours of labor. One epic dream 🛠️ We took an entire year of hard work, blood, sweat, and aluminum, and compressed it into 10 minutes of cinematic magic. From a stack of CNC-cut aluminum to the sleek expedition catamaran that will soon carry us across oceans—this video is a look back at the wild journey of building our future home. From long days to major milestones, it captures the heart of the build—the transformation, the dedication, and the sheer love poured into every weld and every plate. This boat is more than just metal—it’s a life-changing passion project, and the biggest adventure we’ve taken on since sailing around the world. Seeing the whole process strung together like this is soooooo freaking rewarding for us, and I know we say this all the time but we are so freaking stoked and blown away at how this project is coming together. In this week’s episode we celebrate a pretty unbelievable milestone: ONE WHOLE YEAR since the build started 🥳 We crack open the time capsule and look back at some of our predictions and expectations, and reflect on what the reality of it has actually been. We can’t believe how far things have come — and how far we still have to go. But hitting the one-year mark feels pretty dang monumental for us, and it’s a moment we are definitely savoring…but not for too long, because as always the work never ends, and we’ve got a lotttt of projects in the works right now with the interior that are pretty exciting!

Designing our galley has been a loooong process, but it’s one of the parts of the boat that we absolutely wanted to get right, and that’s because the galley is just such an important part of every day life when we’re out sailing and cruising. Having a space that flows well when you’re hooning along in big seas and squalls on all sides of you is a non negotiable. And when you’re hosting dinner with new friends from the anchorage, you want the cooking to be fun too. Food is a huge part of everyone’s life, but when we’re out sailing we feel it even more so…life is stripped down to a much simpler existence when you’re anchored out in a remote atoll hundreds of miles away from civilization. Food, family time, and connection with nature replaces the flurry of distractions and non stop stressors of the “real world”. So after literal months upon months of planning, designing, sourcing materials and appliances, we finally get our first glimpse of our future galley in real life, and we are beyonnnnnd stoked!

Just when we were hitting our stride with the catamaran build, a surprise showed up on the radar—a cyclone headed straight for Brisbane, the first one in over 50 years. So in this episode, we shift gears from building to battening down the hatches. We board up and secure the boat, and do our best to prepare for whatever comes our way. Then… we wait. Not the kind of break we were hoping for, but sometimes nature calls the shots.

Today’s episode is a goodie if I do say so myself, as we tackle a job that I really had so much fun trying to figure out- enter: the shaft brake. Besides answering the question what the heck is a shaft brake and why do we need one, we also explore the creative process that led us through various iterations until we got it just right. Then it’s time for a big reveal in the starboard hull that has been a longgg time coming! And last but not least we also say goodbye to the one, the only, the truly legendary….Super Ryan. Having him out here helping us with the build was not only a massive boost to our progress, but he also brings alllllll the good vibes everywhere he goes, and we just had so much fun working side by side with him for all this time. We really cannot say it enough how grateful we are to have him as a friend, and we can’t wait to see when our paths cross again!

We’re trying something we’ve never done before in this week’s project! We’re taking you all the way from concept, to design, to execution, to the final product as we engineer a keel cooling system for our Combi electric motors. If you missed the bonus video we posted a few days ago, check that out too it has a lot of background info you might find interesting: https://youtu.be/WO3jDS_pJ5A The keel cooler is the star of the show, but we also have a verrrrry special visitor arrive (who Sierra is especially excited about!) and take a little weekend side quest to explore Moreton Island with some new friends. It was such a fun day and also great to have a little reminder of why we’re working so hard to bring Delos 2.0 to life so we can get out there and explore and enjoy the beautiful world that this lifestyle opens up.

Lately we’ve been finding ourselves using AI more and more for things like simple calculations, gathering research, we even used it to try and design a thumbnail for this episode (which did not turn out well by the way 😂 You can’t win ’em all) But in today’s episode we try and put it to the test with a way more complex problem to solve with a lot of variables to take in to consideration. We’re in the process of designing a keel cooler for our electric motors (if you don’t know what that means, don’t worry all will be revealed in this video!) and then on Friday we’re going to release the full episode where we bring it to life!

This week’s episode is one I’ve been geeking out prettttty hard with, as we kick off the install of our propulsion system! Details matter in every step of the build, but this is one project that we absolutely have to get perfect, and it’s been a super fun challenge! Opening up the box and seeing this perfect shiny propellor felt like being a kid on Christmas morning and had me more than a little giddy 😂 Moments like these allow me to really start picturing and dreaming of Delos 2.0 out there on the water, motoring into a pristine atoll with a perfect sandy beach in front of us with our shiny propellor cutting through the water! But before that can happen, it’s time to get to work on this super exciting project 💪

We’re coming at ya with the exhaust system today! It’s one of those things on the boat that you don’t really think about much when it’s doing it’s job…but if things go wrong, you’ve potentially got.a big problem on your hands. So in this week’s episode we’re taking you step by step through the whole process in quite a lot of detail, and we also give you a pretty thorough breakdown of the different components and how they all work together. There’s always so many projects going on at once in the build, but I have to say that my time spent in the engine room is always one of my favorites. Seeing all the pieces of the puzzle start to come together is just so freaking satisfying!
