Nope Nothing To See Here

CHANGE IS COMING…Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 465

Our lives are about to change completely, and it’s just starting to sink in…We’ve spent the last two months in some of the most remote and beautiful atolls on planet Earth, and now we are just days away from saying goodbye to all of it…we will be trading uninhabited islands, perfect white sand beaches, clear water, solitude, and pristine nature for a totally different life in Australia building our future dream boat. It’s beyond exciting, but at the same time we’ve been overcome with a bittersweet feeling…Balancing the gratitude for our time here which has been one of the most special chapters in our entire trip around the world, yet at the same time feeling into the corners of our hearts that will soon be left with little atoll shaped holes. But before we set sail and prepare to haul Delos out, we’re going to soak up every last drop of this unbelievable paradise.

Ocean Nomads: Our Family’s Sailing Story ⛵️ Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 464

The only constant in a sailor’s life is change…We had spent weeks at one of the most beautiful, wild, and remote atolls we’ve ever had the pleasure of dropping our anchor. And as is always the case with our nomadic lifestyle, the time eventually comes to move on. Every once in a while a place can really capture our hearts, and when that happens its tough to say goodbye. But luckily, with the breathtaking atoll of Fakarava on the horizon, it didn’t take long for us to get excited about our next destination. We enjoyed some of the most beautiful sailing conditions we’ve had in ages, and just like that our family and home was all set up in our next paradise, which just so happens to be one of the most famous and sought after dive destinations on planet Earth.

2 Months OFF GRID…WE CRACKED THE CODE! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 463

It’s day 62, and there’s still no sign of civilization. 2 months had flown by for us out here in the Tuamotu Islands of French Polynesia, and we haven’t seen a single grocery store, a restaurant, or even a road…We love going off grid for SUCH a long time, and the deeper into we get, the happier we find ourselves. One of the coolest things about this lifestyle out here is that we are so rich in the currency of time. In our past lives, we traded our time to sit in the office and earn money to buy the things that we wanted, like a seafood dinner at a beachfront restaurant for example. Out here in the middle of nowhere, we don’t have access to conveniences like that, but we do have the time to hunt our own crabs, set up a fire on the beach, weave our own serving plates, and spend all day preparing an incredible feast with our friends and family in one of the most beautiful beaches on earth. These are the days we will look back on and think, dang, we really cracked the code on this whole livin’ thing. And the next day, we got to wake up and do it all over again.

17,520 Days Led Me HERE 🤯 Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 462

It’s kinda crazy when you think about how many decisions, experiences, and twists in the road lead us to our current realities. I can’t really explain exactly how we ended up here….but all I can say is that I’m pretty dang happy and grateful that we did. It’s my birthday, and we’re here in the incomparable Tahanea Atoll of the Tuamotu Islands in French Polynesia. If I could go back in time and show this video to a younger version of myself and explain that this is my future…I’m not sure if I would have believed what I was seeing! They say you shouldn’t speak your birthday wishes out loud, but I can tell you that it looks a lot like this…

Life On An Island You’ve Never Heard Of… Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 461

There are more than 900,000 known islands in the world. You can probably name plenty of them…Tahiti, Bali, Maui…these iconic islands are a household name for most people. But there are still a handful of places on Earth that few people will ever hear of, let alone set foot on. And today we’re about to sail to one of them!

The time had finally come to say goodbye to Raroia…At this point we already had our haul out date set in the Society Islands, and we still had a lot of miles and amazing destinations to cover along the way, so as much as we would have loved to stay here, sailors gotta sail. And honestly, when your next destination is Tahanea…well you really can’t complain! We have one of our most beautiful sails in a long time, and we can’t believe our eyes when we enter into the atoll and we can see the bottom in a depth of 20 meters/60 feet. We are greeted by the local welcoming committee, and we quickly dive into everything this insane paradise has to offer, and show you what life is like for us out here.

This video has a really cozy, homey feel to it with lots of smiles, love, and Sierra adorableness that will just melt your heart 🥹 We hope you enjoy this one, and we’re sending you lots of sunshine, love, and good vibes!

24 HOURS In The Middle Of Nowhere 🏝️ Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 460

This is what our lives are like out here in a remote atoll in French Polynesia! Our family lives on a 53 foot sailboat and we’ve been sailing around the world for the last 13 years. Sometimes we take for granted that our life is kinda unique out here, and so in this week’s video we take you through a (not so) ordinary day for us from start to finish…whether it’s the small things like a bit of morning serenity before the fam wakes up, or a full on crab hunting extravaganza complete with lots of screaming and laughing…we’re gonna show you what it’s really like out here. This really was such a special time for us, and one of our happiest periods we’ve had on board. The Tuamotus just have something so special and magical…there are very few places on planet Earth that have captured our hearts like this. It makes us feel so incredibly happy and grateful to be able to relive these moments through the videos, and we really hope that we can share some of that magic with all of you too 🫶💕

This INSANE Island Beats Them ALL!!! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 459

After more than 80,000 miles sailed, 56 countries visited, an entire circumnavigation of planet earth, and dropping our anchor at countless islands, atolls, and indescribable paradises…this insane island beats them all. We’re here in the Tuamotu Islands of French Polynesia, and we are really and truly in the middle of nowhere out here. About 3,000 miles of open ocean lies between us and Mexico to the north east, and another 3,000 or so in the other direction to New Zealand. We felt like the luckiest family in the world to be able to call this place home for a while, but unbelievably, on this morning, these islands revealed another side of themselves that we can’t even put into words…

Just Say YES! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 458

If there’s one skill that has completely changed our lives, it’s learning to say YES! Say yes to adventure, to the unknown, to challenges, to your fears…And in this week’s episode, we say yes to it all! After a loooong cyclone season spent in the Marquesas Islands, and after a 3 days at sea, we are now at the doorstep of one of our most beloved anchorages of all time, Raroia in the Tuamotu Islands of French Polynesia. Inside this beautiful and remote atoll lies everything we crave…crystal clear water, stunning 360 degrees views of paradise, endless beaches to explore, and an underwater world waiting to be discovered. But before we could enjoy any of it, we would have to navigate through a minefield of bommies and a narrow pass in low visibility.

Our Sail Just Got 10 TIMES Longer 😳 Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 457

It’s crazy how fast plans can change on the open ocean 🤯 The only constant in a sailor’s life is change, and today we found this to be as true as ever. After spending months in the safety of the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia waiting for the cyclone season to pass, we were finally ready to get on the move again. Our plan was to make one last stop in Fatu Hiva which was only about 40 miles away. But once we got out underway, our plans quickly changed from a 40 mile day sail to a 400 mile open ocean crossing!

Would You Sail Away? (Hit By Our Neighbor 😳) Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 455

Well, there’s a first time for everything! After well over a decade of sailing around the world and dropping our hook in all kinds of different places, we found ourselves in a rather unique position that we never expected to deal with. It takes a lot to get me riled up, but this did the trick. But luckily one of the best parts about sailing is that you get to choose your own backyard, so when the neighbors are rubbing you the wrong way, just pack up and head off to the next one!

We Make MISTAKES…THIS Isn’t One Of Them. Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 454

We’ve made all kinds of blunders over the years…Plenty of moments spring to mind from sailing at full speed right into a reef, running aground more times than we can even keep track of, and so many others…some comical, some truly stupid, some a bit scary…but a few months ago when we decided to make that awful upwind sail from The Tuamotus back to the Marquesas Islands to avoid cyclone season, we’re happy to report now that all of our suffering turned out to be worth it, as two big swirling red balls were now filling up our screen when we checked the weather forecast. It had been a longggg few months here too, and honestly it has been one of the tougher times we’ve had on Delos in a while. The Marquesas Islands are such a special place in so many ways, but for the kind of cruising we enjoy and with the needs that we have with Sierra, well lets just say this was not our ideal living situation to say the least. But knowing that we made the right call to keep our family and our home safe made the months of rolling and struggling totally worth it.

LOST TOOTH 🦷 (A Very Rough Sail)…Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 453

We get absolutely ROCKED out there 😳 We just arrived back to French Polynesia, and we were ready to make some moves to a more protected anchorage…but the forecast was not in favor. And after days of waiting around, we decided to brave the ROUGH conditions and trade one day of suffering in exchange for a peaceful anchorage and a good night’s sleep. We bashed straight into massive waves, strong headwinds, and current for hours…and all three of us were on the struggle bus. It was every bit as gnarly as we had expected, and was definitely one of our more miserable sails we’ve had in recent memory. But once we made it to our spiffy new backyard it was totally worth it! And that’s when things start to get realllllllly interesting…I really can’t even describe to you our DIY dental saga…this one you’re just going to have to see for yourselves!
