Before crossing the Indian Ocean the crew sat down to figure out a route and game plan. We needed to get from Asia to Africa, avoiding the worst of the weather and making the most of the monsoon season and trade winds. So, we sat down with two very old school technologies. Our large scale paper chart of the Indian Ocean and the pilot charts compiled from years and years of observations. We had a little discussion, weighed our options, and made a decision as a crew.
