Hello everybody, Capt. Brian here with a little update. Yesterday morning at high tide Brady, Alex, and the new crew slipped the dock lines and motored out into the Atlantic Ocean. If you want to keep track of their progress real time I’ve posted it at svdelos.com where you can see current position, notes from the crew, and weather also courtesy of Predict Wind.
Yesterday someone asked me if I was a little nervous, after all this is the first time that Delos has gone anywhere without me onboard. Brady and I have sailed across three oceans together, some more than once. We’ve actually logged just over 75,000NM at this point which is the equivalent of three times around the world at the equator. He’s been with me every step of the way and we’ve actually learned how to cruise and sail long distances together. I know he has the experience and knowledge to safely navigate Delos. So no, I am not really nervous in that aspect. The crew and boat are solid.
At the moment however I can’t help but to feel a touch of envy. I know that Karin and I are exactly where we are supposed to be right now, we’re settled in a little apartment in Visby, Gotland, and Karin’s mom has even loaned us a car. I bought a 2nd monitor and now have dual-displays which has increased my editing productivity like crazy. We’ve been going to doctors appointments and all with the baby is happy and healthy! Due date is July 28th 🙂 And yet I still find myself feeling a bit envious that Delos has left port without us onboard, headed over the horizon and onto new adventures. I know Karin and I are on a completely new adventure in itself, but the pull of the open ocean is very strong my friends!
Karin and I would like to do a live Q&A to fill you in on what’s going on, our plans for the future, and of course answer any sailing questions you may have. We will post something on this when we figure out a good time.
Fair winds, Peace and Love from Brian and Kazza in Sweden
PS- The live tracking for Delos is just at the top of the home page at svdelos.com .
